Adult Education

“And the study of Torah is equal to them all.” (Babylonian Talmud Shabbat 127a)

In the Talmud we read that the study of Torah is equal in value to all of the other commandments of Judaism. We join together as adults to study, reflect upon our Jewish teachings and texts, and see what lessons they can offer for our lives today.

Rabbi Eisenkramer teaches classes including Bible & Bagel and Lunch & Learn. Topics range from Torah and Talmud study to Jewish theology, Jewish history, Reform Judaism, and Israel. We also offer an Adult B’nai Mitzvah Class, which is a year of study and preparation leading to an Adult B’nai Mitzvah service in the spring.

The Adult Education Film Series

The Adult Education Film Series presents the best awarded and recognized Jewish themed international and American films, including films from Israel and Europe. Films are carefully selected and researched and include documentaries and fictional films focusing on Jewish life, culture (“Apples from the Desert”) and importantly Jewish history. Films exploring the history of Israel, the Holocaust and Jewish migration include “Live and Become" (Ethiopian subject) and “Rafting to Bombay.” Films are critiqued in the Temple Newsletter, presented at the event, and discussed after their presentation.
