Sisterhood

The Sisterhood of Temple B’nai Shalom is a warm, dynamic community of women who participate in social activities at the synagogue. It is a welcoming, accepting group that fosters support for the Temple and provides opportunities for women to join together to form bonds of friendship and fun. Our organization’s primary goals are to:

Provide service to the Temple and the community

Provide opportunities for friendships to develop and thrive, and to act as a support group for our members

Enhance spiritual growth and learning

Sisterhood Activities and Committees

Sisterhood Book Club - Meets once per month at the home of one of our members (currently on Zoom) to discuss the book selected.

Visiting Angels - The Visiting Angels seek to help, support and, care for those who are ill.  The Visiting Angels Committee sends cards and/or makes calls to members of the Temple or are ill and in the hospital or at home. 

Crafty Ladies – The Crafty Ladies are a group of knitters and crocheters who work on group projects including hats and blankets for donation to local charitable causes, such as cancer charities, hospitals, and the Crisis Room. Lessons are available upon request.

Mah Jongg - This group provides our players with an opportunity to improve upon their newly acquired Mah Jong skills in a fun & competitive environment. Meets twice per month.

College Outreach -Care packages are sent to children and grandchildren of congregants attending college away from home three times per year.

Little Sisterhood/TBS Kids – Events planned specifically to include our daughters and granddaughters. May include cooking classes, crafting events, and charitable endeavors. Events we have held in the past include a lemonade stand to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and a Weekend Backpack Food drive to collect and package food for the NJ Community Food Bank.

Temple Outreach – Welcoming new congregants with a basket of cheer, including challah, Shabbat candles, and a bottle of wine.

Judaica Gift Shop – Located in the Rotunda of our Temple, the gift shop stocks items for all occasions. Stop by and check out our unique selection of Judaica for weddings, housewarmings, b'nai mitzvah, baby namings, graduations, yahrzeit, and holidays. Gift certificates also available.
